Red Sox go shopping, add Smoltz and Baldelli
The Red Sox are close to signing a pair of free agents -- veteran pitcher John Smoltz and outfielder Rocco Baldelli, a native of Rhode Island. Both deals could be consummated today.

Cordero drawing interest from a number of clubs
Chad Cordero, who saved 113 games for the Nats in 2005-07 before a torn labrum in his right shoulder limited him to six games in '08, will work out for the Brewers, Rangers and Tigers.
